At Geocord, we understand that your family’s health and future are of utmost importance. That’s why we offer high-quality and safe umbilical cord blood collection services, which may one day serve as a foundation for saving a life.

Cord blood, obtained from a newborn’s umbilical cord, contains powerful stem cells that are used to treat various medical conditions.

Brief Overview of the Cord Blood Banking Process

Before your baby is born, you must register with our bank. This is a simple process during which you fill out a contract, application, and choose the appropriate storage plan and payment terms.
After registration, you will receive a collection kit that will be used during childbirth to safely collect the cord blood.

Once your baby is born and the umbilical cord is clamped, your doctor will safely collect the remaining blood from the cord and placenta using our sterile kit.
This procedure is quick, painless, and does not interfere with delivery. The collection takes only a few minutes and poses no risk to either the mother or the baby.

After collection, the cord blood is sent to our laboratory.
The kit includes temperature control, ensuring that the blood remains stable during transport.
Our courier service guarantees the safe and timely delivery of the sample to our facility.

Once received at the laboratory, our technicians begin processing the cord blood under the highest quality standards.
The blood is separated to isolate valuable stem cells, which are then tested for viability, cell count, and contamination.

According to modern standards, the cord blood undergoes the following laboratory tests:

  • Complete blood count
  • Blood type and Rh factor
  • Sterility testing, including:
    • Bacteriological examination for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and fungi
    • PCR testing for viruses: HIV (types 1 and 2), Hepatitis B and C, Cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Human T-lymphotropic viruses (types 1 and 2, associated with leukemia)
    • Serological testing for syphilis

Freezing stem cells is a delicate and highly responsible process.
Since liquid nitrogen is at –196°C, directly exposing cells from room temperature (20–25°C) to this temperature would cause severe cell shock and destroy many stem cells.

The global standard today is controlled-rate freezing, using a programmable freezer that gradually cools the cells at a rate of –1°C per minute, ensuring high cell viability.

In addition, we add a cryoprotectant substanceDimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO)—which prevents cell damage during freezing. This, too, is a worldwide standard.

As a result, the viability of our clients’ frozen stem cells is maximally preserved.

Your child’s cord blood is securely stored in our cryogenic facility, equipped with multi-layered security systems and backup infrastructure to ensure sample safety.

We continuously monitor storage conditions to maintain the integrity of the stem cells—giving you peace of mind that they will be available whenever needed.

If your family ever needs stem cells for treatment, the retrieval process is simple.
Upon request, we will arrange the safe transfer of the sample to the appropriate medical institution.

Umbilical cord blood stem cells have been used to treat over 80 diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma, and various immune and blood disorders.
